The Genoese club have joined an increasing number of suitors for the 23-year-old, which also includes Serie A rivals Napoli and French giants Marseille.

Villa are willing to listen for offers on Amavi, who is one of several players who could depart this summer as the club look to both balance the books and increase boss Steve Bruce’s transfer kitty.

Amavi has experienced a frustrating two years at Villa Park since joining in a £10million move from Nice.

The France under-21 international suffered a severe knee injury just three months into his first campaign and though he recovered to make 36 appearances during his second year in England, concerns over his defensive capabilities led to Bruce signing Neil Taylor as first-choice left-back in January.

Villa need to trim a bloated squad in order to ease the pressure of Financial Fair Play regulations, though it is understood they are free from any sanction this year and will not be forced to sell players on the cheap.

A deal which will see Carlos Sanchez move to Fiorentina for a £2.5million fee has already been agreed.

Fellow midfielders Jordan Veretout and Carles Gil, who spent the season on loan at St Etienne and Deportivo respectively, have also stated their intention to leave.

Veretout is attracting interest from clubs in France and Germany, with Villa hopeful of recouping as much of the £9million they paid Nantes in 2015 as possible.
