Keith Wyness: Jack Grealish is staying at Aston Villa

Chief executive Keith Wyness has dismissed suggestions Villa might seek to cash-in on Jack Grealish or Jonathan Kodjia this summer.

Wyness insists the club have no intention of selling their most prized assets as they look to mount a sustained promotion push next season.

Kodjia is thought to have admirers in the Premier League after scoring 19 goals following a Championship record £15million move from Bristol City last summer.

Grealish, meanwhile, endured an inconsistent campaign where he was in-and-out of the team, leading to speculation Villa might seek to cash-in on the England under-21 international.

But Wyness insists that won’t be the case. He said: “There is no intention or discussion about selling Jack. Everybody is for sale at the right price. If Real Madrid want him, for example. But there is no discussion.

“This is a big season for Jack, never mind for Villa. This is a key season for Jack, Steve has made that clear and he has been told.

“There are a number of players this is a key season for. There is going to be some pressure on.”

Kodjia is set to miss the start of the season, having undergone surgery on a fractured fibula earlier this month. And Wyness believes that may put off potential suitors in any case.

Asked specifically about the 27-year-old, he said: “If something comes in which is a ridiculous amount then of course but there’s been no bids, no conversations,” he said.

“Given his injury I’d be very surprised if someone takes a chance at that. However he will come back stronger

"It’s too early to say in terms of the rehab. He does look after himself as an individual, he may come back quicker than hoped for. He looks after himself and he’s a good kid.”
