Ugo Ehiogu dies aged 44: A career in pictures
Following the sad news that former Aston Villa and West Brom player Ugo Ehiogu has passed away at the age of 44, we take a look at his career in pictures.
After starting as a trainee with West Brom, manager Ron Atkinson brought the central defender to Aston Villa in a £40,000 deal.
He went on to make 237 appearances for the club, helping Villa to two league cup titles (1993/4, 1995/6) and an FA Cup final in 2000.
Ehiogu then joined Middlesbrough for a club record £8million and went on to forge a hugely successful central defensive partnership with Gareth Southgate.
During his time at the Riverside he made four England appearances and scored against Spain during a 3-0 friendly at Villa Park.
He helped lift the club's first major silverware in 2004 as Boro won the Carling Cup and went on to play in two Europa League campaigns. He was also an unused sub in the 2006 Europa League final.
Ehiogu also went on to play for Leeds, Rangers and Sheffield United before joining Spurs as Under 23's coach in 2014.
