Steve Bruce given big Aston Villa injury boost
Villa boss Steve Bruce is set to be boosted by the return to fitness of attacking duo Gabriel Agbonlahor and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy.
Teenage star Hepburn-Murphy will make his return to action for the under-23s at Swansea on Monday, while Bruce expects Agbonlahor to be available for next Saturday’s home game with Reading.
Both players have been missing through injury since January, with Hepburn-Murphy battling an ankle problem and Agbonlahor out with a torn hamstring.
Icelandic midfielder Birkir Bjarnason remains sidelined with a knee problem and faces a battle to be back before the end of the season.
Bruce has meanwhile hailed the club’s supporters after season ticket sales smashed through the 10,000-barrier.
Villa claim sales of 1,400 tickets on Wednesday was the largest in a single day for more than a decade and Bruce said: “It’s good to hear. I am absolutely delighted that they are backing the club. I am not surprised because of their extraordinary support. They have stayed very loyal.”
