Nigel Spink: Aston Villa win would cap 'unbelievable' start for Steve Bruce
Club legend Nigel Spink reckons victory over Blackburn Rovers tomorrow would complete an "unbelievable" start at Villa for Steve Bruce.
Villa are unbeaten in four games since Bruce replaced Roberto Di Matteo as manager last month and are aiming for their second home win on the spin against lowly Rovers.
European Cup-winning keeper Spink, who worked as part of Bruce's backroom team for more than a decade, has been impressed at how quickly his former colleague has turned the club's fortunes around.
"If they win tomorrow you have to say it has been an unbelievable start," said Spink. "I don't think Steve could really have asked for more.
"They are moving forward. It's small steps but if they can keep the momentum going to January and move into striking distance of the play-offs, then they can strike."
Rangers are meanwhile keeping tabs on teenage Villa striker Rushian Hepburn-Murphy.
The 18-year-old is yet to agree a new deal and with his contract set to expire next summer, the Scottish giants could make their move in January, with FIFA rules meaning the player could move north of the border for only limited compensation.
Highly-rated Hepburn-Murphy has made just one substitute appearance this season.
