Roberto Di Matteo's side are scheduled to head to Hillsborough on Sunday August 7 (kick-off 4.30pm), as Villa begin their first season outside the top flight in 29 years with a game that will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

It is followed by a home game with Rotherham on August 13 - the first league meeting between the two clubs since 1972. Huddersfield then visit Villa Park on Tuesday, August 16, before Villa head to Derby on Saturday August 20.

Di Matteo's side host Wolves on October 15, for what is the first ever league meeting of the clubs outside the top flight. The two sides meet at Molineux on January 14 in the return fixture.

They go to St Andrews for the first derby of the season against Blues on Saturday October 29, with the return fixture pencilled in for April 22 at Villa Park, a fortnight before the end of the season.

The festive period sees Villa play back-to-back home games against Burton Albion on Boxing Day and Leeds United on New Year's Eve. A trip to Cardiff City then awaits two days later, on January 2.

Other notable fixtures see Villa host Newcastle United on September 24. They travel to St James's Park on February 18, while the trip to Burton's Pirelli Stadium takes place on April 8.

Villa's final away fixture takes place at Blackburn on April 29, before they close the season at home to Brighton on Sunday May 7.
