Next Aston Villa manager: Bookies only have eyes for Roberto Di Matteo

If you believe the bookies, there is only one man in the race to become next Aston Villa manager - Roberto Di Matteo.

The former Albion and Chelsea boss is now as short as 1/12 to take the reigns at Villa Park, with many expecting an announcement early this week.

With Nigel Pearson taking the Derby County job, Steve Bruce (5/1) appears to be the main contender to the Italian's West Midlands reunion

Bruce masterminded Hull City's return to the Premier League at the first time of asking, following their 1-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday at Wembley.

But the 55-year-old has asked for more time to consider his future as the Tigers continue to be linked with a takeover of their own.

Bruce still lives in Knowle, while Di Matteo resides in Leamington Spa.

David Moyes (12/1) and Roberto Martinez (10/1) are the next closest in the betting market.

Latest Odds:

Di Matteo: 1/12

Steve Bruce: 5/1

Roberto Martinez: 10/1

David Moyes: 12/1

Mick McCarthy 12/1

Neil Warnock: 16/1
