Scott Sinclair waiting after signing for Villa
Winger Scott Sinclair has been told to wait for his chance at Villa after sealing a permanent £2.5million move from Manchester City.
Manager Tim Sherwood warns his chances of making the starting line-up will depend on what formation is played.
Sinclair has not started a game since the 1-0 defeat to Swansea on March 21, following the Villa boss' decision to switch to a diamond formation in midfield.
He was then dropped from the match-day squad for the 1-0 win over West Ham, before returning as a substitute in the 6-1 defeat at Southampton.
The deal to sign Sinclair on a permanent basis should Villa survive was struck before Sherwood replaced Paul Lambert in February. And the Villa chief admits his omission is down to tactics.
He said: "I think if we go back to wide players, then Scott will be an automatic choice to play there.
"It's horses for courses, at the moment. That's the way we're choosing to play. That's not to say we will play that way between now and the end of the season.
"We may well change. Scott has been training, he's still a good lad and a good player. He hasn't become a bad player or anything like that. Sometimes we will play with wide players."
