Two down at half-time, Grealish pulled a goal back in the 50th minute before the Spireites selaed the win six minutes from time.

Villa were up against it from early on, with goalkeeper Brad Guzan making a solid save from Gary Roberts ahead of being beaten on six minutes.

Right-back Tendayi Darikwa's ball into the box deceived everyone and rolled in at the far post.

The visitors began to get a foothold as Aleksander Tonev fired just wide, as did Callum Robinson.

Robinson followed that up with a header that beat goalkeeper Tommy Lee, but not the offside flag. Just after the half hour mark Graham Burke's rising shot hammered the bar.

Just before the break Chesterfield doubled their lead. Guzan made a superb save to keep out Armand Gnanduillet's header, but Sam Hird beat the goalkeeper with a stab in from the subsequent corner.

Six half-time changes brought a benefit. Charles N'Zogbia burst down the right and his cut back cross fell perfectly for Grealish to stroke home, via the inside of the post, from15 yards.

Six minutes from time the hosts concluded the scoring, when Sam Morsy hit home from close range after solid work by Eoin Doyle.
