Grant Holt today insisted Wes Hoolahan will always be in demand as Villa's transfer chase rumbles on.

The striker reckons the Ireland international would be an asset for Premier League clubs with the claret and blues plotting their next move.

Hoolahan had a transfer request rejected by Norwich on Tuesday after Villa had a £750,000 bid turned down by the Canaries at the start of the month.

Hoolahan and Holt fired Norwich from League One to the Premier League under Villa Park chief Paul Lambert and loan signing Holt said of his former team-mate: "He's a player who a lot of people will want in the Premier League.

"His name always gets linked with Paul but you'll have to ask the manager.

"He doesn't need me to help him anymore now though, he's an international now."

Hoolahan wants to reunite with Lambert after starting just five league games this season under Chris Hughton.

And Holt, who made his Villa debut in Saturday's 2-2 draw at Liverpool, insisted Hoolahan will know what to expect should he join Villa having worked with Lambert before.

"I know his ways and I know what's coming," said the 32-year-old. "I know what he expects so as a player to go into that makes things a lot easier."
