Villa boss Paul Lambert: No winter nightmare this time
Boss Paul Lambert today insisted Villa will avoid another nightmare before Christmas. His team shipped 15 goals in the Premier League without reply last season and were dumped out of both cups over Christmas and New Year.
They were thumped 8-0 at Chelsea, 4-0 by Tottenham and 3-0 by Wigan before going out of the FA Cup to Millwall and suffering League Cup semi-final embarrassment to Bradford.
But Lambert reckons Villa have the experience not to suffer a second straight winter woe.
He said: "You certainly hope that won't happen; I definitely don't sense anything like that.
"There were a few, Chelsea, Spurs, Wigan, Bradford, Millwall, and it came like four or five games in one hit. But you keep going. The players didn't get the credit they deserved for what they did."
