Goalkeeper Brad Guzan today vowed Aston Villa will perform another escape act and climb out of the drop zone for a fifth time.

The American dismissed relegation fears despite the claret and blues sinking into the bottom three again.

Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Liverpool kept them rooted in the Premier League danger zone, for the fourth time this season, on goal difference.

Villa are six points adrift of West Ham in 11th and with so many teams involved in the survival scrap, Guzan believes they can move out of the drop zone.

He said: "Regardless of whether we're in the bottom three, you look at the table and see how tight it is. There's a lot of football to be played and lot of points to pick up.

"You win three matches and you're talking about Europe. The Premier League is competitive and that's what makes it the best league in the world.

"For us, Sunday was not the result we wanted. We'll look to go again, but there's a lot of football to be played.

"You try not to get caught up in looking at the table. You focus on yourself, if you do that, you'll be fine."

Queens Park Rangers' 3-2 defeat at Fulham last night left them rock bottom, seven points behind Villa, with Reading also stuck on 23 points.

Villa go to Stoke, who are just four points above them in the league, on Saturday searching for a first clean sheet in 20 games.
