Striker Gabby Agbonlahor has pledged his future to Aston Villa after being linked with a move to Sunderland.

Agbonlahor, who has three years left on his current contract, insists he will be happy to remain at Villa Park for as long as he is wanted.

The 25-year-old England international produced some of his best form under Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill when he was in charge of Villa after becoming a regular under the former Wycombe, Leicester and Celtic chief from 2006.

But Agbonlahor has no plans to leave his hometown club and is also looking to prove himself to new boss Paul Lambert.

"Looking at it over the summer, I'm just laughing at myself thinking 'where do they get these links from?' said Agbonlahor.

"I'm an Aston Villa player, it's my home-town team and I love the club. As long as I'm contracted to the club then I'll continue to play for them – until I get told otherwise."

He added: "When you've played with a manager as good as Martin O'Neill you're going to be linked with him. But, for me, it's just speculation. Also when a new manager comes in, people think straight away you won't be involved."
