Jermaine Jenas came to Aston Villa fit
Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish today revealed Jermaine Jenas underwent thorough medical checks before joining on a season-long loan from Tottenham.
Alex McLeish today revealed Jermaine Jenas underwent thorough medical checks before he joined on a season-long loan deal from Tottenham and insisted he has just been unlucky with injuries.
The 28-year-old midfielder joined Villa on the final day of the transfer window, but a thigh strain followed by an Achilles problem means he has yet to make a competitive appearance.
Jenas went to see a specialist in London yesterday and has been given the all clear to continue his rehabilitation, but is unlikely to be available until the November 5 clash with Norwich at the earliest.
Given Villa's tough financial situation it has inevitably led to questions over the decision to bring Jenas in, but McLeish is confident he will make an impact when fit.
He said: "It's something that you just cannot legislate for. They did stringent medicals, they passed the player. If it's a bit of bad luck then that's the way things happen."
