Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish today insisted he is slowly reaping the benefits of a mentally stronger group of players.
The claret and blues were much improved in their recent victory over Wigan, which saw them climb up to seventh place in the Premier League heading into the international break.
Next up is a daunting trip to Manchester City on October 15 but McLeish believes his side are now better equipped for the challenge.
He said: "It's about building on the identity we have tried to impose over the past few weeks, the mental toughness, the never-say-die attitude, and that they go right to the very end.
"We've seen a lot of these characteristics. There's a terrific team spirit, it's great to see the lads supporting each other through thick and thin."
