Michael Bradley insists he is ready to match the all-action style of style of former Manchester United star Roy Keane after completing his loan move from Borussia Monchengladbach.
The claret and blues face United at Old Trafford tonight and, although Bradley will not be involved, he believes he brings the same qualities to the side as ex-Red Devils midfielder Keane.
Bradley, who is awaiting a visa and international clearance, revealed he was a huge fan of Keane when he was growing up and was inspired by the Irishman's will to win and heart for the fight.
And the 23-year-old American international would love nothing more than to bring those influential qualities to Gerard Houllier's side.
"I am a midfielder who likes to give everything for the team," said Bradley.
"I can attack and defend and impose myself in the centre of the field. I will do whatever it takes to help the team be successful.
"When you look at football nowadays, to have midfielders who can get forward, get in the box and get goals, that's important too and I try to do that.
"I have watched all sorts of games from when I was little and watched midfielders obviously.
"The one I looked up to was Roy Keane and the job he did at Manchester United.
"The way he was able to be the engine and heart of their team and help them be successful was something to aspire to."
Meanwhile, Houllier said Stephen Ireland could still have a long-term future at Villa even though he was yesterday allowed to move to Newcastle until the end of the campaign.
"The door remains open for him as an Aston Villa player," said Houllier.
"I think Stephen was, first of all, a bit unlucky because he has had several injuries."
