West Brom v Wolves head-to-head: Every Black Country derby FA Cup clash
After beating Brentford 3-2 in extra time on Tuesday evening, Wolves face a huge Black Country derby at the home of fierce rivals West Brom in the fourth round of the FA Cup - but they will have to overcome history to progress in the tournament.
That’s because of 11 meetings in the world’s oldest knockout cup competition, Wolves have beaten the Baggies just once.
Albion have won a stunning eight times against their rivals with two clashes ending in draws, which went to replays.
In their most recent meeting, Albion came out on top in 2007 at Molineux, with goals from Diomansy Kamara, Kevin Phillips and Zoltan Gera. The Baggies beat Wolves four times that season.
The old foes’ first meeting in the FA Cup came in the fourth round on January 2, 1886, with Albion winning 3-1 at home.
Arthur Loach, George Bell and former Wolves forward Tommy Green got the goals for Albion, with George Wood scoring the consolation goal for Wolves.
In fact, the first two meetings between Wolves and Albion both came in the FA Cup, with the second on November 26, 1887.
The Baggies won again, this time 2-0 at home in the third round, with goals from Billy Bassett and Joe Wilson.
