Dean Gill is backing Wolverhampton Casuals to find scoring touch
Wolverhampton Casuals boss Dean Gill is confident the goals will soon start to flow.
The West Midlands League Premier Division high-fliers have endured a barren run of late, finding the net just twice in their last five outings..
But Gill’s men still boast an highly-impressive record, having suffered just one top flight defeat all season and having conceded just seven goals.
“We are having one of those spells where things just aren’t dropping for us in front of goal,” said Gill, whose side host second-placed Bewdley tomorrow.
“We should have won the four games we have drawn recently, but we didn’t take our chances.
“We are not scoring goals and it’s a bit of a problem at the moment, but I am confident they will come.
“There is no doubt that we have the players with the ability to put that right.
“It’s been frustrating of late, but everyone is working hard.
“No one is hiding, it’s probably the opposite. All the lads want to get on the ball and the strikers are getting in the right positions. We just need something to drop for us.
“There is no need to panic. We have lost one league game all season and only conceded seven goals.
“Teams are also sitting back which makes things harder, but it’s up to us to combat that.
“Teams are seeing us as a scalp, and I suppose that is a compliment.
“We went to Pershore in midweek and there was only one side interested in winning.”
Gill has moved to solve the goal problem by signing striker Rikardo Reid from Sporting Khalsa.
“Rikardo scored 31 goals in the MFL last season, so he has a good pedigree,” added Gill.
“He will need a game or two to settle in, but hopefully he will get off the mark soon.”
Casuals will kick off the clash sitting fourth in the table, five points behind second-placed Bewdley but with two games in hand.
Bilston Town, who sit fifth, will be looking to get back to winning ways when they travel to Littleton.
The Steelmen’s promotion push has been checked recently by back-to-back defeats.
Third-placed Dudley Town will be confident of adding another win to their tally away to Cradley Town.
