Tividale boss Dave King has boosted his side’s firepower by snapping up talented teenager Luke Sidaway.

The 18-year-old striker makes the step up to the Midland League from West Midlands League Premier Division high-fliers Bewdley Town.

King had been keen to bolster his attack and is delighted to have completed the deal, with the youngster going straight into the squad for tomorrow’s home clash with Gresley.

“We have defended well this season, but I felt we needed a bit more firepower,” said King.

“Luke is a talented young player. We watched hin last season and he impressed in a pre-season game against us.

“He has been on our radar for a while, but I didn’t think we would get him to be honest.

“Four other clubs have put seven-days notice in for him this season and he has turned them down.

“With Bewdley going for promotion as well, I thought our chances were slim.

“But I had a chat with him and I am delighted he has agreed to join us.

“He is only 18 and I don’t want to put too much pressure on him.

“I want him to enjoy his football here and we will help him develop. I have always been keen to give young players a chance if they are good enough.”

King is hoping to see some action tomorrow after two postponements in the last week added to what promises to be a hectic end to the season.

“It’s been frustrating because we haven’t been able to build any momentum,” added King.

“And from what my chairman has told me, it doesn’t look as if the league are going to extend the season.

“The final weekend is April 25 and we still have 16 league games to play and a JW Hunt Cup tie. We may have to look to bring some more players in to help us.”

“I was disappointed that last Saturday’s game was called off because I though the pitch was playable. There was just one area that was a bit wet.

“I am thinking of finding a room at the club and sticking a bed in it, because I am going to be here that much!

“We are not the only team in this situation, but we don’t carry a big 25-man squad. I like to have a nice tight-knit squad of 18 or so, where everyone buys into the club. But we might have to look to bring a few more players in.
