The Robins are flying high in the West Midlands League Premier Division and their push for promotion has been boosted by the returns of attacking duo Danny Mayne and Dan Jones.

Mayne was handed a late run out in the midweek draw at Wolves Sporting while Jones is back training and building up his fitness.

“Danny Mayne and Dan Jones are on the way back to full fitness,” said Lovatt.

“Danny got some minutes in midweek and Dan has been in with the physio working on his fitness

“They have been sidelined with knee injuries since September and December and I am chuffed to bits that we will have them back for the run in. They are big players for us.”

And Lovatt now has designs on adding a couple of new faces as his side embark on a crucial run of fixtures.

“The cut off for signings is approaching and I am hoping to land a couple of signings to bolster the squad,” he said.

“We start what could be a pivotal period tomorrow away to Bridgnorth.

“We have some tough games and while I am really pleased with how the lads are performing at the moment, I don’t want to risk leaving us light for the run in.”

The Robins make the trip to Shropshire on the back of an impressive seven-game unbeaten run and with their boss further heartened by an improvement in their defensive work.

“We are on a good run at the moment, unbeaten in seven, and we have also started to reel off some clean sheets,” he added.

“That is really pleasing because it’s something we are not renowned for.

“We are a blood and thunder side that usually work on the principle of ‘if you score three, we will try to score four’.

“But it’s good to see us keeping some clean sheets and a lot of credit for that has to go to our keeper Shane Maydew.

“I think he played 10 or 11 games since he signed from Khalsa and we have kept five clean sheets in those matches.”

Wolves Casuals are another side with designs on promotion, and they will be looking to extend their stunning defensive record when they host Wednesfield tomorrow.

Cassies have shipped in just four goals in 17 games and have reeled off five successive clean sheets.

Bilston Town will be looking to bounce back from last Saturday’s defeat to leaders Shifnal when they head to Dudley Sports.
