Khalsa beat Selston 7-0 thanks to goals from Liam Armstrong (two), Gaz Singh (two), Jack Till, Lewis Worsey and Mykel Beckley in a game that saw the visitors play an hour with nine men. And while he was happy with the final outcome, Rowe was frustrated by certain aspects of his side’s display.

“We started really well and were three up when they had their centre-half sent off,” he said. “We scored another and then they had their keeper sent off. But for the next 40-45 minutes we were pretty awful to be honest. We just didn’t do the right things.

“I put a couple of subs on and we then scored another three in the last 15 minutes. I wasn’t that happy on Saturday night, but on reflection it was a good weekend because the leaders lost and we made up some ground on them.”

Walsall Wood’s glory bid took a hit as they lost 3-0 at Romulus. They will bid to get back to winning ways at home to AFC Wulfrunians, who drew 0-0 at RC Warwick, tonight.

Tividale, who were held to a goalless draw by Coventry Sphinx, host Long Eaton.

Lye Town lost 1-0 to Gresley at the weekend and now their attention to tonight’s Birmingham Senior Cup clash at home to Rushall Olympic.
