The Steelmen have won four of their last five games following the arrival of Spicer and his new-look backroom team.

Three of those victories have helped fire the Queen Street men up to 11th in West Midlands League Premier Division going into tomorrow’s home clash with Wem Town.

But Spicer is not content with bouncing around in mid-table, he is aiming high as he bids to bring the good times back to Bilston.

“I am from Bilston and I know the potential the club has,” said Spicer.

“We have picked up some good results in the last few weeks and I think the belief is growing that Bilston could be a big club again on the local non-league scene.

“We need to keep that belief going, especially among the fans.

“All the fans want is to see some attacking football and a side that doesn’t give up.

“We have climbed up the table, but I am very ambitious and I want us to push for the top four.

“I think we can give any side in the division a good game.

“We have won four out of five games and the one we lost was 6-4 to leaders Shifnal, who have an incredible side this season.

“But we kept going in that game and scored four times against a side that had hardly conceded.

“It must have been a great game to watch.”

Spicer has made a number of signings, but he is sill looking to add further new faces.

“I think the squad is 70 per cent where I want it to be,” he said.

“Ideally you want two players competing for every shirt. I want competition, I want the players fighting for their places and pushing each other in training.

“We are still looking to add a few more players and hopefully by Christmas we will have the squad we want.”
