Tividale are braced for tough test
Tividale will be looking to make it three wins on the spin when they travel to struggling Selston tomorrow.
After winning the West Midland League Premier Division last season, newly-promoted Tividale have had a strong start in the Midland League, winning four out of seven league games.
They sit sixth in the table after defeating Highgate United 3-1 at home last weekend.
Dave King’s men also beat AFC Wulfrunians 3-2 in the League Cup in midweek.
Selston have been one of the league’s strugglers with one win and five losses so far this campaign, but manager King won’t be taking them lightly.
He said: “Every game in this league is hard, whoever you play.
“Even though Selston’s form suggests they aren’t doing well, it’ll be a tough game – you can’t take anything for granted in this league.
“Notoriously, teams that come up to this league go straight back down, it’s a big jump, so the aim was to stay in the league and stabilise the club.
“I’m delighted with the start, we’re surprising everyone, I heard we were the odds on favourite to go down – I’m really pleased.
“We’ve got to keep this standard up, we’re a hard team to beat on our day.
“The two losses recently gave the team the kick they needed.”
King has no fresh injury concerns but admitted he is still looking for potential additions to the squad.
“We’re seeing what’s out there, we’re actively looking but nothing is on the horizon, it has to be the right person who will buy into the football club,” he added.
Elsewhere in the league, leaders Walsall Wood host Highgate, Sporting Khalsa travel to Racing Club Warwick, AFC Wulfrunians welcome Coventry Sphinx and Lye Town visit Gresley.
