Aston Villa youngsters take the spoils against Wolves
Villa got the better of West Midlands rivals Wolves in the Premier League 2 fixture at the Banks’s Stadium.
Cameron Archer scored the only goal for Villa’s under-23s in the 52nd minute, moments after hitting the bar.
In a goalless first half, Wolves keeper Andreas Sondergaard denied Jacob Ramsey one-on-one, while Villa’s Indiana Vassilev had a goal disallowed for offside.
At the other end, Dion Sanderson clipped the post after getting on the end of a corner from Elliott Watt.
After Archer’s goal, Callum Rowe had a shot tipped over by Sondergaard and Tyreik Wright had the ball in the net again, only to be flagged offside.
