£5 turns into £36,000 for punter after successful accy
A lucky gambler turned £5 into a whopping £36,000 after correctly predicting the results of six football fixtures.
The customer bet on the Baggies, Aston Villa, Burton Albion, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Sunderland to win all of their games in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
Four of the six games selected finished 2-1, but the Birmingham-based punter needed no less than four goals in the final 10 minutes of Tuesday night's fixtures.
Their predictions paid off allowing them to take home £36,303.23 after placing the bet at a Ladbrokes shop.
A spokesman for the company said while the season has only just begun, this bet could be the best of the season.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "We're still in August but this has to go down as an early contender for bet of the season. Was it luck? Was it skill? Either way our Brummie punter won't mind and we're delighted for him!"
The results of the games saw West Bromwich Albion beat Accrington Stanley 3-1 away, Aston Villa win 4-1 at home against Wigan, Bournemouth overturn Birmingham City 2-1 at the Blues ground, Crystal Palace trump Ipswich 2-1, Burton Albion beat Cardiff 2-1 and Sunderland beat Carlisle 2-1.
Earlier this year, one lucky punter won £823,000 from a £19 bet on horse-racing.
The bet was placed on a race being held at Punchestown in Ireland, and was submitted online at Coral.
