Transfer Rumours - July 18th
Expressandstar.com brings you all of the latest transfer talk from Wolves, West Brom, Aston Villa and Walsall.
We're not saying that they're true, just that they're out there.
Wolves
Wolves have been linked with a surprise move for Sheffield Wednesday forward Lucas Joao.
The Portuguese striker has fallen down the ranks at Hillsborough and was shipped out on-loan to Blackburn Rovers last season.
The 23-year-old could be best set to go out on-loan once more, and Wolves are a possible destination given their decision to move on from Jon Dadi Bodvarsson this month.
Meanwhile, former Wolves loanee and Liverpool youngster Sheyi Ojo is being linked with a £10m move to Newcastle.
The 20-year-old made 17 appearances for Wolves in his loan spell, scoring just twice - leaving fans questioning the price tag attached to the England youth international.
He's failed to gain a foothold at Anfield, having been at the club since 2011.
West Brom
Albion are set to fight it out with Leicester City and Peterborough United for the signing of non-league defender Alex Penny.
Able to fill a number of roles at the back, Penny began his career at Hull before dropping down to Nuneaton Town, he's also played for Hinckley and Stourbridge.
Nuneaton have confirmed that Peterborough have firmed up their interest, but no bid has been accepted yet.
Also, West Brom have reportedly approached Arsenal regarding a deal for left-back Kieran Gibbs.
Tony Pulis was linked with a move for the 27-year-old earlier in the summer, and is now thought to be keen on a deal for the English defender.
It's reported that the £10m asking price for Gibbs could put off Albion though, meaning a deal will have to be brokered to secure any permanent transfer.
Aston Villa
Steve Bruce is being linked with a move for ex-Villareal midfielder Gabriel Kunda Jr.
The reports suggest that the 24-year-old has been invited to train with the Villans, although Birmingham City are also apparently keen on him.
He began his career at Charlton before being highly touted in Spain, with spells at Atletico Madrid and Real Zaragoza seeing him linked with high-profile moves to Monaco and PSV before he headed to Villareal.
Also, Villa will have to tackle the likes of Burnley and Hull if they want to secure James McArthur's signature.
The Crystal Palace midfielder has just a year remaining on his current contract and is thought to be out of new boss Frank de Boer's plans.
A price tag thought to be around £2m has been slapped on the 29-year-old, who's also made 28 senior appearances for Scotland.
Walsall
No rumours from Walsall today.
