From Hednesford Park to Sydney for starlet Cohen Bramall

This time last year, Cohen Bramall was putting in the hard yards on pre-season runs around Hednesford Park as he prepared for upcoming games with the Pitmen.

But 12 months later, his surroundings were altogether more glamorous as the 21-year-old was selected in the starting XI as Arsenal played their own pre-season fixture against Sydney FC, some 12,000 miles from Staffordshire at the ANZ Stadium.

Bramall, who left Hednesford Town for Arsenal in January, was selected by Arsene Wenger in a left wing-back role – playing alongside the likes of Mesut Ozil and Arsenal’s £50million new striker Alexandre Lacazette.

It caps an amazing six months for the player signed months earlier by the Pitmen – and found out he was being made redundant by luxury car-maker Bentley just weeks before his dream move was done.
