Slimani to the Midlands?

We're not saying they're true, just that they're out there.

Wolves

Wolves have missed out on the opportunity to sign Marley Watkins on a free deal.

The midfielder was thought to be interesting Wolves and Aston Villa, but will join Norwich when his deal expires this summer.

The 26-year-old will be the latest key player to leave the Tykes, who may struggle should they fail to replace their lost talents.

One man who might not be wearing Wolves colours next season either is Ethan Ebanks-Landell.

The centre-back is apparently wanted on a permanent deal by Sheffield United, where he was on-loan last season.

Whether Nuno Espirito Santo is keen on judging him before making a call on his future is yet to be seen.

West Brom

Albion have reportedly made an offer for Montpellier striker, Steve Mounie.

Tony Pulis is in dire need of reinforcements up-front, with only Salomon Rondon and Hal Robson-Kanu the senior options in the position.

With 15 goals in 37 appearances last season, the 22-year-old is likely to be hunted by a number of clubs - with Fulham also apparently keen.

West Brom aren't keen on a move for Islam Slimani - despite reports to the contrary.

The Leicester City striker was of interest to Albion last summer, before the club refused to pay over the £17m mark for his services.

He's had an inconsistent start to life in the Premier League with the Foxes, scoring seven times this season.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa are still keen to secure the services of Sam Johnstone next season - despite a period of silence regarding the move.

It's thought that Everton could try and scupper the deal with Villa, but it's also reported that the unstable goalkeeping position at Old Trafford could be playing a part too.

Man United are braced for more interest in David De Gea this summer, with Real Madrid sniffing.

Meanwhile, any hopes of Gareth Barry returning to B6 this summer seem to have been dashed.

The former Villa stalwart is at Everton, but Ronald Koeman is reportedly keen to keep him, despite his rising years.

Villa are regularly linked with a move for the former international midfielder.

Walsall

Out of contract Falkirk left-back Luke Leahy is a transfer target for Walsall, the Express & Star understands.

The Coventry-born defender hasn't extended his current deal with the Scottish Championship side.

The Saddlers are on the hunt for a new left-back after loanee Scott Laird returned to Scunthorpe at the end of last season.
