There was a clear gulf in class between Woodhouse and his Filipino counterpart as he took the first set 3-0 at Alexandra Palace.

The second set was less convincing as some low scores still saw Woodhouse to a 3-0 victory - with his opponent unable to finish off his doubles.

In the final set, Woodhouse went ahead once more but Ilagan did hit back with a 103 checkout to level the set at a leg apiece.

Woodhouse went back in front but Ilagan wasn't going down without a fight as he hit his first maximum of the match to level it at 2-2.

Then in the final leg he was well on top, but earned some boos from the crowd as he laid up to leave 18 rather than going for a big finish.

But he hit double 16 at the second time of asking to book his place in the second round.
