Hain, who is Bears’ all-time leading Vitality Blast run scorer, has agreed to extend his stay at his “home” Edgbaston until at least the end of the 2028season.

The England batter arrived at Warwickshire’s Academy, aged 16, from Australia and has gone on to establish himself as a fans’ favourite across all formats.

Since making his Warwickshire debut in 2013 the 29-year-old has scored almost 12,500 runs for the club, including 3,779 in T20, and averages close to 40 in the Championship with 18 centuries to his name.

“I’ve spent close to half my life as a Bear,” said Hain, who’s been Bears’ top Blast scorer in the last two seasons.

“I’ve loved every minute of my time here, it’s a special place and I’m lucky to call it home.

“As a teenager turning up here at the gates, it’s been one hell of a journey.

“I’m very pleased and humbled to continue my cricket journey here at Edgbaston.

"This place has become my home. I’m looking forward to see what the next four seasons have in store and how far we can go as a team.”

Warwickshire first team coach Ian Westwood said Hain has proved himself as one of the finest performers in domestic cricket in recent years.

Westwood added: “I’m delighted Sam has signed a long-term contract with us, as will our members and Bears fans.

"He deserves it.

“He’s a great guy to have around in the dressing room, you can tell he feels relaxed and at home at Edgbaston.

“He’s very motivated to win more silverware with Warwickshire and help the next generation of batters come through.”
