They beat Himley by 146 runs in Group Two – after winning at Harborne upon the restart.

Walsall’s eye-catching total of 254-6 was built around a fine innings of 73 from Cox, while Bruce Thomason (55) and Rafay Ahmed (47) will also have been happy with their displays.

Matt Jeavons took 3-46 for Himley, but his efforts proved to be in vain as they ended up way behind their target.

They were all out for 108, in the 32nd over, as Cox capped off a top all-round display by taking 3-11. Jordan Bulpitt (2-11) gave him a helping hand, too.

West Bromwich Dartmouth also grabbed their second win from as many games, with a four-wicket home success against Harborne.

The visitors were boosted by an excellent century from Tom Payne, who stroked 119 from 122 balls as they finished 238-6

But Ismail Mohammed (91) and Omar Ali, who smashed 40 from just 18 balls, put together an opening partnership of 63 for Dartmouth and when Mohammed was dismissed at 224, they were well in control and saw out the victory.

In the other Group Two clash, Pelsall grabbed their first triumph of the season, courtesy of an impressive triumph against Smethwick.

Pelsall won by three wickets and ex-Warwickshire batsman Navi Poonia, formerly of Smethwick, led the way with a superb 110 from 96 balls, including eleven fours and three sixes.

That helped them reach their target of 203, with just one ball to spare.

Hamza Ahmood was unbeaten on 92 for so-close Smethwick.

In Group One, Wolverhampton came away from Wem with a four-wicket win.

Kieron Patel took five of the first six wickets to fall for Wolverhampton. They finished 187-6 – after Wem were all out for 184 – with eight balls to spare.

One of the closest games of the weekend was at Chester Road as Kidderminster, in Group Four, held off a stern challenge from Ombersley.

Half-centuries from Jujhar Johal (62) and Neil Pinner (54), as well as a handy 32 not out from Nathan Round, saw Kidderminster to 234-7.

In reply, Ombersley were going well on 192-2, thanks to a third-wicket partnership of 166 by Nick Hammond (93) and George Panayi (60), but once they were both dismissed by Chris Steele (2-28) they lost their momentum.

Liam Weston (3-44) helped hold Ombersley off, with the visitors falling short by the narrow margin of seven runs with five wickets still standing.

Halesowen join Barnards Green at the top of the group following a 20-run win over Bromsgrove.

Luke Tulacz top scored for Halesowen with 59 as they were dismissed for 171.

Bromsgrove’s top order then failed to impress as they finished on 151-8 – Eddie Rhodes taking 3-32 for Halesowen.
