Michael Hill (153) and Brewood’s Tim Maxfield (117) shared a fourth-wicket stand of 194 to lay the foundations of Staffs’ big score, with Spencer Byatt (50no) and Sam Kelsall (41) also adding useful contributions.
And Staffs gave themselves the best possible start with the ball as well. Mitchell Spencer removed both openers with only 27 runs on the board, before James Cox got in on the act with the final ball of the day, trapping Ben Coddington lbw to leave the visitors 55-3.
