Smethwick end in a tied match

Smethwick missed out on the chance to go top of Division One after they played out a dramatic tie with Barnards Green.

Both sides finished on 225 all out with Smethwick losing their last two wickets for three runs.

Mohammed Sheikh led the way with the bat for Smethwick with 69. Barnards Green had earlier lost four of their wickets via run outs.

Bridgnorth – who were bottom of Division One after three games – are now top after edging past rock-bottom Attock by two wickets, with Worcestershire pace ace Charlie Morris (78 not out) seeing them home.

Himley’s Bilaal Hussain scored 81 to help them to 233-6, but they fell agonisingly short of beating Wellington who held on with 206-9.

In Division Two Fordhouses beat Coventry by six wickets to stay on leaders Oswestry’s coattails.

Old Hill beat Old Elizabethans by 34 runs and Wombourne were all out for 85 in their eight-wicket defeat to Oswestry.

Halesowen lost to Pershore by 81 runs and Penkridge beat C&R Hawks by just one wicket.

Streetly moved up to third in Division Three after beating Sentinel, overtaking Stourbridge who lost at Astwood Bank. The latter overtook defeated Lichfield at the top of the table.

Brewood lost at Milford Hall to stay mid-table.
