Attiq Chishti ton haunts old side

Fordhouses remain in second place in division two behind Oswestry despite a nine-wicket hammering at Sutton Coldfield – and trail the leaders by 43 points.

Opening bowlers Dinushka Nawarathnage (6-25) and Steven Howard (4-45) bowled unchanged as Fordhouses slumped to 76 all out in 24.2 overs.

Wombourne overcame C&R Hawks at Rawnsley by three wickets in a cracking encounter.

Saqib Akbar clubbed 78 from 53 balls for Hawks after Kabir Ali (48) and Valeed Butt (47) had helped them recover from 47-3. Hawks were bowled out in 55 overs for 262.

David Hemming bowled 17 overs unchanged for Wombourne to take 4-42. An unbroken eighth wicket stand between Zachary Smith (37 not out) and Danny Spasic (35 not out) saw Wombourne home.

Old Elizabethans’ defeat to Halesowen sees them drop into the relegation zone with Old Hill, who drew at Penkridge. Old Elizabethans reached 181-8 against Halesowen (Richard Gardiner 57) and the hosts strolled to a six wicket win with 77 from Ed Kilbee.

Penkridge batsman Attiq Chishti haunted his old club Old Hill with hit an unbeaten 107 in 83 balls as his side ended on 310-7. Chishti was involved in an unbroken eighth wicket stand of 127 with Shafiq Ahmed (62 not out) and took three wickets Old Old Hill finished on 208-7.

Lichfield (127-5) set the pace in division three with a five-wicket win over Stratford-upon-Avon (125).

Jade Richter took 7-41 for Stourbridge as Sentinel were dismissed for 135. At 121-9 in reply, an unbeaten 32 from Jitesh Jivan-Patel guided Stourbridge home and into second place.

Milford Hall moved within four points of safety following their success at Nuneaton who were out for 126, Ejaz Nawaz 6-39, in response to Milford’s 209 -9.
