Wet Weather had its way with cricket in the West Midlands.

Rain ensured their exciting Black Country clash in the Birmingham League premier division was brought to a premature end. A knock of 56 not out for Kadeer Ali, backed up by Amit John’s 47, had put Dartmouth in a strong position in reply to Wolverhampton’s 230-5.

The match had been bubbling to an exciting climax with Dartmouth on 129-1 from 29.1 overs in reply before the heavens opened, leaving Wolverhampton 10th in the table and the visitors fifth following their winning draw.

Walsall rattled through Barnt Green’s batsmen dismissing the side for just 48 in 28.3 overs, before knocking off the required runs for the loss of two wickets in 7.2 overs.

Leading bowlers for the home side, who sit fourth in the table, were Ed Denham (3-9) and Billy-Jo Cox (3-23).

Berkswell bucked the trend for low-scoring innings racking up 335-5 at Kidderminster, having recovered from 10-3, before rain once again stopped play.

A fifth wicket partnership of 226 between Tom Milnes (156 not out) and Tom Lewis (107) was the highlight with Milnes crashing 10 fours and 11 sixes from 123 balls.

Lewis faced the same number of balls and stroked nine fours and six sixes.

Liam Weston took 3-83 for Kidderminster, who had reached 109-3 from 33 overs when rain brought an end to proceedings, leaving the home side second from bottom in the table, with the visitors in third.

Fourth-placed Smethwick were also involved in a rain-affected draw against Attock during their Birmingham League Division One encounter.

Left-arm spinners Sukhjit Singh and Gurinder Singh took 3-42 and 3-54 respectively as Attock were restricted to 152 all out in 55 overs.

In reply, Smethwick were teetering precariously on 105-7 when the game was abandoned as a draw, with Smethwick earning a winning draw due to a faster run rate.

Eighth-placed Bridgnorth seemed to be cruising to victory at Himley but had to settle for a winning draw when rain abandoned the game.

The visitors, replying to 163 , had marched to 127-3 in 31 overs.

Skipper Greg Wright top scored with 44 for Himley as Bridgnorth’s Sam Whitney finished with bowling figures of 5-31.
