The home side were struggling on 44-5 in response to Penkridge’s 180 all out when the match was abandoned.

Cheslyn Hay’s C & R Hawks were frustrated by the weather when their match with Pershore was called off for a draw with the visitors struggling on 128-9 in reply to their 187.

Harborne were foiled by the rain having reduced bottom club Old Hill to 65-8, who were chasing 154. James Hunt hit 46 against his former side for Harborne as Nigel Davenport picked up 6-47 for Old Hill.

Eight-placed Halesowen were on 112-8 with 9.5 overs remaining, in reply to Sutton Coldfield’s 137, when the rain came in.

It was a similar tale in division three, with table-topping Newport’s match with sixth-placed Stourbridge abandoned after 28 overs.

Newport were well behind the required run rate on 81-1 chasing the home side’s 226-5. Stratford-upon-Avon’s 27-run win at Stafford’s Milford Hall lifted them into second place, four points behind the leaders, while Brewood settled for a draw after posting 104-1 in response to Handsworth’s 241-7 when the match was called off.

Eighth-placed Streetly skittled out Worcester Nomads for 48, with Michael Dinneny returning with stunning figures of 6-8.
