Zaheer Suliman hits double century for Milford Hall
Milford Hall's Zaheer Suliman was the star turn as he smashed a stunning 202 from 156 balls in their Birmingham & District League Division Three triumph at Streetly.
Suliman’s double century – which included 19 fours and 12 sixes – helped Hall to a mammoth 314, although the second highest individual total was 19 from Ejaz Nawaz.
Sagar Mangalorkar (3-31) took the first three wickets to fall as Milford struggled to 13-3, 41-4 and 103-6 before Suliman found an ally in Nawaz.
At 174-8, Milford looked a long way short of a competitive total but Suliman’s piece de resistance took them out of Streetly’s range.
The home side made 249 before they were dismissed with Imran Qadir scoring 90 and Akbar Ahmed reaching 63.
There were three wickets apiece for Sam Jeavons (3-53) and Nawaz (3-58).
Excellent bowling from Astwood Bank’s Ryan Blakemore (4-21) and Joel Haslam (3-11) saw Lichfield off for 92 with Joe Seager top-scoring at number seven with 43.
Openers Blakemore (45) and Alex Robinson (32) then eased Astwood Bank home.
An unbeaten 76 from Jake Cartwright held the Brewood innings together (174) at Nuneaton after Lee McNeil (3-23) had taken early wickets for the home side.
The Nuneaton innings followed a similar pattern as they were bowled out for 146 with Jason Jakeman unbeaten on 65.
Wade Lezar (5-33) was the best of the bowlers for Brewood.
An unbeaten 72 from Ollie Ranscombe, 50 from Richard Henry and 44 for David White saw Worcester Nomads to 227-4 against Stourbridge, who were bowled out for 188 in response.
Skipper Josh Banks was unbeaten with 73 for Stourbridge as he ran out of partners. Cameron Blakey (3-20), Patrick O’Driscoll (3-42) and Henry (3-46) all played a part as Nomads closed out the game.
West Bromwich Dartmouth won their derby date with Walsall in the Premier Division.
Despite an opening stand of 67 between James Middleton (55) and Danny Cox (30), Walsall’s total of 192-8 was easily overtaken by West Bromwich Dartmouth, who strolled to a six-wicket victory over their local rivals.
Kadeer Ali (3-33) and Shozair Ali (3-36) were Dartmouth’s leading bowlers before Abid Ali (51no) and Liam Banks (49) chipped away at the Walsall total.
Struggling Wolverhampton (171-9) clung on for a draw against a Berkswell side (234-8) who began the weekend top of the table.
In a match reduced to 46 overs per side at the start, Chris Whittock (74), Tom Lewis (54) and Tom Milnes (43) made solid contributions for Berkswell, as did Aneesh Kapil (51) and Zen Malik (50) for Wolverhampton.
Mohammed Ahmed (4-29) and Ryan Sidebottom (4-35) shared eight wickets for Berkswell, who were thwarted by Wolverhampton’s last-wicket pair of Johannes Bothma and Adam Lawley.
Kidderminster earned their first win of the season, by 70 runs, against Barnt Green.
George Hatfield (59no) and Nathan Round (43) were the leading scorers for Kiddy with young Worcestershire Academy prospect Patrick Brown taking 6-25.
