Wolverhampton fall into relegation zone
Wolverhampton slipped into the relegation zone of the Birmingham & District League Premier Division after defeat at Walsall.
Overseas player Sivakumar Duvvarapu hit 105 as the Gorway outfit reached 227 all out against Wolves, for whom Johannes Bothma took 3-30.
After losing early wickets, skipper James Hammond revived the visitors’ hopes with 59. However, steady bowling from medium pacers Ed Denham (3-23) and Robbie Byrne (3-31) maintained control for Walsall, who earned their third win of the season.
Kidderminster remained rooted to the bottom of the table after a seven-wicket defeat to Ombersley, who made short work of the strugglers’ total of 237.
Marc Edwards (74) and George Hatfield (48) were the main run scorers for Kidderminster, while Liam Weston took 3-45.
West Bromwich Dartmouth were beaten by a Dorridge side earning their first victory of the season.
Kadeer Ali (83) and Abid Ali (54) hit half-centuries as Dartmouth scored 260-6, but Dorridge got home with four wickets in hand.
Smethwick lead the way by 15 points in Division One after extending their unbeaten run to five matches.
A tight Smethwick attack bowled Tamworth out for 174 – left-arm spinner Sunny Singh (3-45) finished with the best figures.
A third-wicket stand of 74 between Mo Sheikh (61no) and Vikram Sodhi (37) paved the way for overseas debutant Gurvinder Singh to finish the match off in style with an unbeaten 34.
Himley (204) were beaten by Bromsgrove (225-7), despite the best efforts of Stuart Wedge (3-27) and Dan Durman (45).
