Mubeen Rashid stuns Fordhouses

Mubeen Rashid hit a composed 122 as Cannock & Rugeley Hawks brought Fordhouses back to earth with a bang in Birmingham & District League Division Two.

Fordhouses had won their first four games of the season to top the division, but Rashid led Hawks to 271-8, despite the best efforts of Zimbabwean international Tendai Chisoro.

In reply, Fordhouses crashed to 100 all out as Nadeem Akram picked up 4-37.

Oswestry replaced them at the summit as Old Hill were crushed by 10 wickets.

Veterans Nigel Davenport (44) and Ravi Nagra (42) showed the other Old Hill batsmen how to do it in their total of 177, which proved no problem for Oswestry.

Wombourne’s six-wicket win over Sutton Coldfield at Rectory Park moved them up to third place in the table.

A mean spell of 4-18 from David Hemming helped to restrict the home side to 169 all out. In response, Karl Quiney (59no) steadied the ship after Wombourne lost their first three wickets for 42.

Bottom side Halesowen pulled themselves within touching distance of the sides above them with victory over Harborne by six wickets.

A devastating opening spell of 6-19 from Dylan Ross-Watt triggered Harborne’s downfall and Ed Kilbee (66) led Halesowen to victory.

Penkridge are second bottom after defeat to Old Elizabethans, despite 73 from Rana Hassan.

In Division Three, Streetly (Akbar Ahmed, 56no) beat Brewood by five wickets, Lichfield (Stuart Fielding, 57no) overcame Sentinel by seven wickets, Milford Hall (Luke Ponder, 61no) lost to Astwood Bank by six wickets and Stourbridge (Zain Ul-Hassan, 78) were beaten by Stratford-Upon-Avon by four wickets.
