Wolverhampton cricketer Georgia Elwiss selected for World Cup squad
Wolverhampton's Georgia Elwiss has been named in England Women’s World Cup squad.
The all-rounder, who turns 26 at the end of this month, has been selected in the hosts’ party of 15 for the tournament, which begins when they take on India in Derby on June 24.
Wicketkeeper Sarah Taylor has also been included in the squad after returning to the fold following a stress-related illness. This time last year Taylor, 28, took an indefinite break from the sport but returned last month and has been selected, along with captain Heather Knight, whose place in the 15 had been in doubt when she suffered a stress fracture in her foot at the start of this month.
Taylor – who has played more than 100 one-day internationals – linked back up with the squad at a training camp in the United Arab Emirates last month for the first time since stepping away from the game last May due to anxiety attacks.
