Staffs revenge mission
STAFFORDSHIRE look to maintain their 100 per cent start to the season – and achieve a measure of revenge – when they head to Herefordshire in cricket’s Unicorns Knockout Trophy tomorrow. Reigning champions Herefordshire defeated Staffs by 56 runs in last year’s final.
Both sides will be looking to make progress towards the quarter final stages of the competition with Staffs having comprehensively defeated Shropshire, before narrowly edging out Wales Minor Counties in their second match to sit top of the table with four points. In contrast Herefordshire romped to a nine-wicket success over Wales in their one outing so far this campaign. Staffordshire captain Kadeer Ali admitted: “It was a game we needed to win because we have two tough games in Herefordshire and Cheshire coming up.”
