Qamar Abbas starred with the ball, picking up 4-18 as Pelsall lost seven wickets for just 21 runs to see them slip to 62-8.

Stephen Blews, with 31 runs, and Danny Pennell (28) led a brief revival before Ejaz Nawz picked up his second wicket as Pelsall ended 124 all out.

Chris Becker was the mainstay of the Milford reply, finishing two short of a half century before overseas pro Haydn Slodecki's 37 not out saw them to victory and the top of the table.

It is considered to be a three-horse race for top spot and Cannock underlined their credentials with a two-wicket home victory against Beacon, who were top before the game.

Elliott Horton claimed four wickets from eight overs as the visitors were dismissed for 162.

Cannock openers Adam Benton and Adam Evans were both out for zero, before Brian Barnard came to the rescue.

The South African big-hitter got 63, with skipper Will Fleet (29) and Andrew Le Feaver (26) also making significant contributions, as they finished on 164-8 with five overs to spare.

Cannock captain Fleet said: "It was great, we weren't at full strength and Beacon are a really good side.

"If we didn't win it would have become a two-horse race as we would have fallen a fair bit behind but we are well in it now. It has put us right back into the mix.

"It was tough pitch down to the weather and when you are four down with 80 needed it is going to be tough, but we managed to pull through.

"We don't play Milford until near the end, so we have got to concentrate on all our games and keep racking up the results and keep up the pressure on them and Beacon."

Also going strong are Hammerwich, who had John Jennings in fine form as they beat Aldridge.

The skipper bludgeoned 76 from just 104 balls, as his side finished 269-7 after the full 50 overs.

He also proved efficient with the ball, getting two wickets as Aldridge ended up 96 runs short.

Despite Carl Baker leading by example, Wednesbury were on the losing end and remain second-bottom.

Penn were the visitors and, having won the toss, elected to field first.

Kulveer Singh Badhan hit 56 for the hosts, with Baker adding 65, and they finished with a very respectable total of 242-6.

It was not enough though as Sandeep Dhillon, with 81 runs from 77 balls, led the fightback and Penn reached the target after 36 overs.

Walsall YPF are just three points above Wednesbury and were defeated by Whittington, whose bowlers proved too strong.

Matt Stone got five wickets and two maidens from nine overs in the 68-run victory, with Daniel Wilks at the double as well.

Bloxwich remain rooted to the foot of the table following a four-wicket loss to Swindon.

This weekend, the race for top spot continues as leaders Milford Hall visit Hammerwich, Beacon go up against Whittington and Cannock make the short trip to Aldridge.
