Skipper John Ackrill led by example with a top score of 46, including two sixes, as he and fellow opener Kelton Scott put on 56 for the first wicket.

And the thrilled Bloxwich captain hailed his team's performance saying: "It's been coming."

Ackrill, whose side leapfrogged Wednesbury at the foot of the table, added: "We batted really well and put on a solid foundation that we could build on.

"We had a couple of solid middle order knocks with Tom Fellows, Nick Hickman and Jack Keen all getting into the 20s.

"That helped us get up to 201 which, on our wicket, was a competitive total. We had a couple of youngters brought in so I was really pleased."

Bloxwich rolled out Cannock for a paltry 82 all out off 33 overs, with only four players making double figures.

Ackrill added: "We bowled really well too, Wajid Ali took 3-30; Tom Fellows took three wickets too.

"To be honest, it's been coming. We played really well against the leaders Beacon the weekend before.

"Had we got another 30-40 runs, it could have been close. We had them six down." Bloxwich face Whittington this weekend.

Elsewhere, Wednesbury dropped to the bottom of the table after being bowled out for 104 chasing Whittington's 222 after 50 overs. Matt Stone top-scored for Whittington with 77.

Pelsall picked up their second victory of the season at Aldridge after putting on a fine batting display.

Tom Boyd (92) fell just short of his century to lead his side to 257-8. In reply, Aldridge were dismissed for 140.

Second-place Milford Hall dispatched mid table Swindon with ease, bowling them out for just 97. The small total was chased down within 17 overs.

Hammerwich now find themselves in third position after a win against Penn, who could only muster 126 before 10 wickets fell.

Top-of-the-table Beacon dismantled Walsall YPF – bowling them out for a meagre 36. Beacon then showed their class winning the clash in 6.2 overs.

This weekend, in-form Milford Hall travel to Penn, while top-of-the-table Beacon host Aldridge. Wednesbury visit Swindon.
