Rob Hunt and Sam Evans get set for action

Stafford's Rob Hunt will return to the ring next month after staying true to his promise of boxing on - with Wednesbury's Sam Evans joining him in the line-up.

The former Midlands welterweight champion will engage in a 31rd bout as a professional on the same grounds of his loss last time out,

Hunt was widely outpointed by journeyman William Warburton, through a three-round deficit of 59-56 after six, on October 1.

He was due to step through the ropes with Warburton at Walsall Town Hall the previous July, but the fight was scrapped at short notice.

The experienced campaigner, who has since turned 31, will climb back through the ropes at the Fenton Manor Sports Complex in Stoke-on-Trent.

Boxing legend Ricky Hatton will again promote the show on Saturday February 18, which will see Hunt compete over four or six. His opponent has yet to be determined.

The area crown he once held is up-for-grabs at the top of the bill, as Craig Morris makes his first defence against another former champion in Ryan Fields.

Hunt turned pro in April 2006 aged 20, scoring the only first round stoppage of his career so far against an overwhelmed Ian Clyde.

He's gone on to claim another two TKOs from 23 wins with five defeats - all inside the distance - along with two draws.

Evans is also set for action and has his own prior experience of the fight site, having featured on the same card as Hunt versus Warburton.

The youngster has racked up a magnificent seven of paid victories without reply so far and continues to have Hatton in his corner.

The 20-year-old welter scored a final round TKO in his first outing over six at Fenton Manor, with Andrej Capur halted inside-the-distance. It's one of two stoppages on his pro record.

Evans made it seven from seven at Birmingham's Holiday Inn Queensway on December 1, again in a six-rounder outpointing Capur's Lithuanian countryman Arvydas Trizno.

'Taffy' is growing in potential with former two-weight world champion Hatton, a former global ruler in his division, operating as his coach since he turned over 21 months ago.

Tickets are now on sale for the show, priced at £30 and £60 ringside. For more information, call Rob on 07769 254 545 or Sam on 07585 906 792.
