The now-vacant Midlands super welterweight title will be contested on a pro boxing show in the West Midlands next March.

Walsall Town Hall will provide the scene when the 10-round crown is decided on Saturday March 4,

writes Craig Birch.

Two out-of-towners will brawl for the belt, though, as Adam Harper and Curtis Valentine set to slug it out for the honours.

Craig Cunningham, who lives in Oldbury, has relinquished a second Midlands title after doing the same at middleweight.

Harper's base of Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire is considered in the Midlands, so he can compete for the relevant area strap.

He will go up against a former Midlands champion in Curtis Valentine, from Nottingham, for the 10-round main event.

'Hurricane' Harper, 28, also defends his unbeaten status with seven points wins from seven pro bouts against a feared puncher.

The hard-hitting Valentine, now a veteran aged 35, won area honours at middleweight in 2012 and dented the promising career of Dudley's Ryan Aston.

Valentine took less than two rounds to halt the previously undefeated Aston, who had already been down twice before his corner threw the towel in.

An additional four of Valentine's seven paid victories have been by stoppage but he has been beaten three times on points to Erick Ochieng, Alistair Warren and Navid Mansouri.

Another unbeaten prospect, Halesowen's Lennox Clarke, is also preparing for his next ring date at Walsall Football Club on Friday February 17.

Former unlicensed boxer Clarke will record a 15th pro win from 15 outings if his hand is again raised in the Stadium Suite at the Banks's.

The 25-year-old super middleweight, dubbed 'Dangerous' after recording six TKOs, is back on the trial of English champion Jahmaine Smyle.

Clarke was ringside when Smyle retained his title with a points split decision success over former footballer Leon McKenzie at London's York Hall in November.

Tickets to the Walsall Town Hall show, titled 'No Guts, No Glory,' are priced at £30 and £60 ringside and available from the Box Office by calling 0845 111 2900.

Tickets for the Walsall FC bill, called 'Battleground,' cost £35 and £60, the latter option including a two-course meal. For more information and to purchase, call 01922 651 414, extension 416.
