Martin Gethin boxes on - this weekend!
Walsall's Martin Gethin has already answered the question of whether he'd retire after his fight at the weekend - he's boxing again on Saturday night!
Gethin first hinted at hanging up his gloves in August but wanted one last bout in his hometown before calling time,
He admitted he was contemplating his future after he was counted out in the third round of an eliminator, for the Commonwealth super lightweight title, to Adam Little.
He got his wish on last weekend's show at Walsall Town Hall, easily defeating Liam Richards two days after his 33rd birthday.
'The Quiet Man' remained tight-lipped on what's next for him even after scoring a 40-36 four round points landslide, in his 36th pro contest over a 12-year career.
His hand was raised for a 27th time, with 11 previous wins inside-the-distance. He's lost eight times, five by stoppage, with one draw.
The plot then thickened for the former Midlands, English and British lightweight champion this week when he was offered another big fight.
Gethin has agreed to take on John Wayne Hibbert for a title, which may be for the WBC International super lightweight belt which the latter has held.
The contest will be broadcast live on Sky Sports from Wembley Arena with Gethin stepping in for old rival Tommy Coyle, who has pulled out for personal reasons.
Gethin's last outing on the channel in March 2015 saw him drop Coyle, who was saved by the bell, with a left hook in the second round before retiring at the end of the fifth with an ear problem.
One last shot at getting his career as a major domestic force now comes his way against Hibbert, 31, who is coming off the back of a stoppage loss to Andrea Scarpa in July.
Tickets for the show are still available priced at £40, £60 and £100 from www.ssearena.co.uk or by calling 0844 338 8000.
VIP passes, costing £150, are exclusively available at www.matchroomboxing.com or on 01277 359 900.
