Paul Holt v Louis Fielding for the Midlands

Paul Holt has been handed a second opportunity to become a Midlands champion after being paired with Louis Fielding for the area super featherweight title.

The battle for the belt will top the bill when professional boxing returns to Walsall Town Hall next month,

writes Craig Birch.

The strap was last contested at the same venue in November 2013, when Coventry's Troy James took less than a round to knockout Cradley's Chris Male.

James never defended the belt and has now vacated, paving the way for the 'the Incredible' and Tamworth's Fielding to meet for the honours Saturday September 24.

The Nuneaton-based Brummie and his co-challenger take the starring roles for a show titled 'High Stakes,' a tribute to show sponsors Grosvenor Casino Walsall.

Holt returned to action in July, defeating Joe Beeden by points landslide in his first fight since challenging for the area crown at feather 13 months previously.

The 25-year-old southpaw gamely battled on with a broken jaw to go the distance with Bobby Jenkinson, going down on the cards.

His father, Mark, won the Midlands featherweight belt outright in 1990, with his son and fellow left-hander still determined to follow in his footsteps.

'Flash' Fielding, 26, actually has more wins than Holt with six victories and two defeats from eight bouts. His opponent has five successes and three setbacks on his paid ledger.

Manny Zaber, from Old Hill, features on the under-card having originally been due to appear at Walsall Football Club on Friday September 2.

Zaber has racked up seven wins from seven pro contests, since turning over from the unlicensed circuit, and is targeting a super featherweight showdown with Dudley's Les Byfield.

West Bromwich's Tom Stokes engages in a keep-busy contest of his own, with aspirations of a shot at the vacant Midlands middleweight title.

He has been petitioned to co-challenge with fellow undefeated prospect Daniel Breeze, of Bloxwich. Stokes will move to 8-0-0 with a Town Hall victory.

West Bromwich cohort Tommy Loach makes his debut on the card at welter. He graduates from Wednesbury Boxing Club. Coventry cruiserweight Dilly Singh also turns over.

Wolverhampton's Joshua Burke will be looking to get busy again, two months later than he was hoping. He was due to box at the Town Hall in July, but had a wrist injury.

Burke has one win and one defeat as a cruiserweight but has already gone six rounds, in an unsuccessful points effort against old amateur rival Courtney Richards.

Birmingham's Luke Walker is in action at super welter, looking for his fourth victory with all three of his previous paid bouts taking place at the same venue.

Former world kickboxing champion Chad Sugden has already been paired with Chris Nixon for his latest test as a pugilist.

Sugden, 22, held the ISKA world middleweight crown and remains the youngest to ever win a belt from that organisation. The man from Newark in the East Midlands is known as '2 Slick.'

Tickets, priced at £30 and £60 ringside, are on still sale from the Town Hall Box Office on 0845 111 2900.

The casino, on Bentley Mill Way, will host the weigh-in and after-show party (over 18s). A number of free cars from Yellow Taxis will go from the fight venue to the function.
