Frankie Gavin pulls out of Sam Eggington fight

Frankie Gavin has pulled out of his title bout with Stourbridge's Sam Eggington – after a car ran over the Birmingham boxer's foot.

Gavin was struck after stepping off a kerb in Aston a fortnight ago but said the injury had not healed sufficiently to allow him to take part in the British and Commonwealth title fight at the Barclaycard Arena.

Gavin was targeted on social media by Eggington fans for pulling out, but hit back by tweeting: "I would fight anyone, but I am injured and not gonna be myself, so can't risk it. Sorry."

The show will go on, with Eggington set to face a new opponent at the event, on Saturday, October 17.
