Andrew Robinson's power put to the test

'D'Animal' has a six-rounder against never-stopped Lithuanian Deividas Sajauka at Wolverhampton Civic Hall on Saturday night,

The BoxNation cameras will again be present, with Robinson starring on their channel in a compelling shoot-out with Frank Buglioni last year.

Robinson climbed off the floor to push 'the Wise Guy' to the 10-round distance, but couldn't claim the WBO European super middleweight title.

Buglioni could only draw with Lee Markham with the belt on the line on his next contest, before halting Fernando Castaneda in five for WBA International honours.

That somehow got him a shot at WBA world champion Fedor Chudinov, who showed the gulf in class with a comfortable points win last weekend.

Robinson has watched his rival from afar having kept busy himself, stopping 'Prince' David Davis in nine for the area crown and outpointing Christian Hoskin-Gomez over six.

A tick-over bout now awaits him with the incentive of him becoming the first to remove Sajauka in 20 attempts, before moving on to bigger and better things.

The 30-year-old feels he has unfinished business with Buglioni, who could be dropping back down to domestic level after his second defeat.

Robinson said: "That fight keeps me awake at night. That was my chance to put myself right up there and make a better life for my family - and I didn't take it.

"If I ever get that chance again, I'll get it right this time. Buglioni is strong, can punch and takes a good shot, but he's not unbeatable.

"He's a massive super middleweight and I'm going to be just as strong and powerful at middle. There are big fights for me at middle, but I leave who I get to my management.

"I just want to get in there, fight and give the crowd what they want."

His stable-mate Tyler Denny is on the card, with their coach Shaun Cooper again in the corner. Robinson will be able to give him tips for his four-rounder with Haskin-Gomez.

The card will be headlined by Tommy Langford's first defence of the WBO Inter-Continental middleweight title against Christian Fabian Rios.

Former British, Commonwealth and IBF world champion Paul Butler, who hovers between super fly and bantam, will also compete.

A third 10-rounder should produce the next challenger to Navid Mansouri's English light middleweight title, when Dudley's Ryan Aston takes on Nathan Graham in an eliminator.

Aston will be looking to bounce back from his controversial points loss to Welborn, at the same venue in June, by taking the next step to national recognition.

But former Southern champion Graham, an ex-footballer for Aylesbury United, could pose a stiff test after travelling up from Buckinghamshire.

Aston's Priory Park Boxing Club stable-mates Les Byfield and super middleweight debutant Josh Miller have four-round bouts on the night.

Frank Warren's television channel will broadcast live with his fighters Josh Leather, Macaulay McGowan, Leon Woodstock and Brummie Raza Hamza completing the line-up.

The weigh-in will take place at Wolverhampton Boxing Club on Friday at 2pm, as a mark of respect to the late John Thomas.

There will be a minute's silence in honour of 'Tommo' before the fighters tip the scales. The gym, on Willenhall Road, will be open to the public.
