Lee Glover fails weight for English title shot

Tipton's Lee Glover did not box for the English featherweight title as planned on Saturday night after failing to make the limit.

Glover's big second chance - after he was outpointed for the national belt at super feather by John Kays last year - failed to materialise,

The 27-year-old had the benefit of a good couple of month's notice, too, and will likely campaign back at the higher weights after his battle with the scales.

It left Issac Lowe – his co-challenger for a crown vacated by British, Commonwealth and European champion Josh Warrington – high and dry on fight week.

'The Westgate Warrior' did step through the ropes as scheduled on the bill at the King George's Hall in Blackburn, though.

Lowe instead took on late notice replacement Jamie Quinn in an eight-rounder and extended his unblemished start to life as a professional to 10 straight wins, through a 78-75 points verdict.
